Rookie Fodder — Community Rules
Last updated: 11 October 2026
Names are public
The name you choose for the ranking boards is shown to everyone who plays, next to your country and your score. In a co-op room the other players see your co-op name: your Steam name on the desktop version, otherwise a made-up "Rookie" and a number. Choose a name you are happy for strangers to read. If you choose none, you appear as "Rookie" and a number.
Do not use your full real name, and never put a phone number, an address or anything else private in a name.
Names that are not allowed
A name is 3 to 16 characters: letters, digits, spaces and . - _ ' between them.
A name must not:
- Insult or attack. No swear words, sexual words or slurs, and nothing that attacks people for their race, origin, religion, sex, sexuality, disability or age. This holds in every language, and for words written with digits, symbols, spaces, repeated letters or look-alike letters to get past the filter.
- Praise or threaten harm. No names that celebrate violence against real people, extremist groups or their slogans, and none that tell someone to hurt themselves.
- Pretend to be us. No names that look like staff, a moderator, support, the developer or the game itself ("Admin", "LucidMaze", "Support"), and none that copy the default name ("Rookie 1234").
- Pretend to be someone else. Do not take the name of another player or of a real person to pass for them.
- Advertise or spam. No web addresses, contact details or sales pitches.
- Give away private information, yours or anybody else's.
An automatic filter refuses most names of the first and third kind when you type them. It is not perfect in either direction. If it refuses an ordinary name (some real names contain a rude word in another language), write to us. A name the filter lets through can still be removed under these rules.
Reporting a name
If you see a name that breaks these rules, report it from inside the game: on a ranking board or in a co-op room, select the player and choose Report, pick a reason (offensive, pretending to be someone, spam, or other) and, if you wish, add a short note. You report the name; the other player is not told who reported it.
You can send a few reports an hour. Reporting the same name twice does nothing more than reporting it once.
What happens to a report
- A person reads it. Every report is looked at by someone at LucidMaze. We do not promise a reply, and we do not tell you what was decided.
- Several reports hide a name meanwhile. When several different players report the same name, the boards show "Rookie" and a number in its place until we have looked. This is a precaution, not a judgement: the player keeps their place and their scores, sees in the game that the name is under review, and may change it.
- What we may decide:
- nothing: the name stays, and is shown again if it was hidden;
- the name is removed: the player appears as "Rookie" and a number, may choose another name, and cannot take the removed name again;
- the player is hidden from the rankings: for names chosen to abuse, or repeated after removal. Their battles are still checked and their campaign is untouched; they are simply not listed.
- False reports are abuse too. Reporting names that break no rule in order to annoy a player, or getting others to do it, can lead to the same measures against the reporter.
We never ban anybody from playing the game over a name.
If you think we got it wrong
Write to us and say which name it was. A person will look again.
